Last night in McHale Park kilmeena minors had a historic win in the minor county championship. At 8.30pm on the 16th of October under lights, the ball was thrown in. It was a night of perfect conditions for football. The only thing that wasn't picked up on was the clash of Jersey's. The game was on.

Kilmeena came out of the blocks fast and got the first score on the board. Our early dominance did not show on the board as we kicked 7 wides. Ballaghaderreen came into the game and picked off 4 points to leave the score 4 points to 2 after 20 minutes. Keith Joyce came off the bench and scored a goal. It was needed as we were struggling at this time and turning over a lot of ball. Ballaghdeeren leveled soon after and the half time whistle went. Kilmeena went to the dressing room leaving their fans wondering if they had they anything left in the tank. After some harsh words and banging of tables, kilmeena lads came out and delivered.

It was a magnificent performance from a very special bunch of guys. This win was not down to any one player but a total team performance.

Kilmeena won 2.07 to Ballaghaderreen 0.08

I believe this is the first time our proud club has won this competition.  Thank you, to all involved that helped to make this possible.

Onwards and upwards.
